Pretty in pink
With Mother’s Day upon us, we’ve been scouting the high street to see how retailers are joining in the celebrations.
As a colour, pink is a spring perennial, with rarely a year passing without at least one shade appearing. It was the colour was chose to adopt for cover of our latest ‘Better Fashion Retail’ report, and for good reason – being one of the top pantone spring/summer 2019 colours chosen by designers for both NYFW and LFW.
It’s also synonymous with Mother’s Day, and retailers have been showing various shades of this spring favourite even more love for 2019. From gentle Sweet Lilac shades to the blushing alternative of Pressed Rose or the more fun Peacock Pink – all could be found in stores over the past few weeks as retailers seek to draw shopper attention to cash in on Mother’s Day sales opportunities.
Powdery Ballet Pink
This blush rose, powdery ballet pink colour is one of the most delicate pinks of the spring 2019 colour trends, with blush pink shades appearing across several instore campaigns, including those by Cath Kidston and Whittards.
From pastel shades to baby pink with just a touch of lavender, Sweet Lilac is one of the cool spring 2019 colour trends and has been adopted in instore campaigns for Mother’s Day by the likes of jewellery retailer Nomination – a gentle colour that is feminine, but not sickly sweet.
The colour of choice for Monsoon Accessories, Pressed Rose is light as air and shamelessly feminine, with the pastel pink holding a touch of warmth compared to its sibling, Sweet Lilac.
Pink Peacock is an intense magenta that cannot be ignored. It is one of the most striking spring 2019 colour trends – a shade so noticeable that several retailers including M&S Food have adopted it into their schemes for Mother’s Day promotions.
