Hamley’s approached Visual Thinking to develop a VM tool for their store teams to help them implement and manage ‘best practice’ visual merchandising and retail standards throughout their UK and international stores. Our brief was to develop detailed VM policy guidelines for how to present different product categories within the companies varied store portfolio; from the smallest airport terminal outlet to the world renowned, Regent Street, London flagship store.
Working in collaboration with the Hamley’s VM and HR Teams, Visual Thinking developed and produced a comprehensive visual display guide for use by store-based management and sales teams.
Designed in a versatile printed document format, it has the ability to be shared online, downloading and printing the page content instore. It is developed in a user-friendly “show and tell” format with step-by-step instructions. The concise and useful text is supported by detailed colour photography and graphic illustrations to communicate the policy content. Content topics cover all aspects of store and product presentation including; retail space and layouts, using fixtures and equipment, VM techniques, product demonstration, impact feature displays and how to maximise the use of POS, signage and branding.
The project was delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed client brief. The new guide has been enthusiastically received and will be used as a valuable tool to enhance the customer experience instore and to drive sales performance with high standards of VM.
Hamley’s now have a valuable tool to implement consistent, high standards of brand delivery and VM across its retail estate and a product to satisfy the different learning needs of its store teams.
