The client approached Visual Thinking to provide consultant support to coach store management and staff on key VM and retail principles to enhance its seasonal merchandising and improve use of space.
The Visual Thinking team developed a hands-on visual merchandising coaching programme. The focus was on fully re-merchandising seasonal areas and prioritising prime space for best-selling brands and products, using a ‘show, do, review’ approach. In the process, key departments such as football, cricket, running were transformed.
Management and staff completed the programme with an improved understanding of visual merchandising techniques and the importance of maintaining visual standards, including product density, forecasting sales against aligned space, stock turn rates and techniques for handling product fragmentation.
The Visual Thinking team also provided advice and recommendations on further potential development areas, to be reviewed on subsequent visits. Since the programme, the client has reported increased sales, as well as more sales from less stock.
“Our staff have gained in confidence and understanding due to the excellent training from Visual Thinking. The improvement in merchandising has led to an increase in sales from a smaller product range. I would thoroughly recommend using Visual Thinking to improve the look, feel and performance of a store.”
