Case Studies:

  • Client: Capital Hair & Beauty

    Project: Retail Standards Manual

    Brief:

Capital Hair & Beauty appointed Visual Thinking to deliver an integrated project to bring high street retail standards into their business. The client is a long-established wholesaler of salon supplies to the hairdressing and beauty trade. The management team recognised that if the business was to grow, it required an injection of new thinking to help develop, reorganise and equip its trade centre teams with the skills to manage their businesses more aesthetically and effectively.

As a sector in general, trade wholesalers have been slow to adopt visual merchandising and presentation as a business development tool. However, the few business to have embraced VM best practice, such as Macros and Costco (i.e. major corporations), have done so with outstanding success.

    Solution:

Visual Thinking conducted a comprehensive review of the organisation including store layout planning, product presentation, promotional activity and setup, as well all aspects of back-of-house such as stock room setup, office space, customer and staff facilities. The brief included developing key working documents including an Operational Policy, Store and VM Principles and a Standards Manual.

The project was coordinated and led by Visual Thinking with implementation by the client teams, allowing them to take ownership of the project and embed the new working practices throughout the culture of the organisation.

Capital Hair & Beauty is now better equipped to enjoy growth within its sector and provide a superior trade shopping experience compared with their wholesale competitors. Following tests of the new working practices, a trial store was 40% ahead of sales week-on-week versus control stores!
